And Down Goes Fenty ...

"King" Fenty fell down and lost his office Tuesday as all the king's Michelle Rhees and all the king's frat brothers could not put the mayor back together again.

D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty has lost the Democratic primary, and therefore his re-election because the Republican party is a myth in the District. Fenty lost to D.C. Councilman Vincent Gray in Tuesday's vote. Fenty was down in the polls due to nearly everyone I know not wanting to vote for him. I don't know who was more passionate, my friend Savvy Broad who called the mayor "that boy" or every cab driver I encountered for nearly a month who lectured me on why I needed to vote Fenty out. The Washington Post has an in-depth and fascinating story on what went terribly, terribly wrong.

Short version: Dude was petty and short-sighted.

It's Election Day!

Image via DCUniverse on Twitter, h/t Washington PostPrimary dates are going down in seven states today and the city of Washington, D.C.'s Democratic primary for mayor (which pretty much decides who's mayor) is happening today in the District. It's judgment day for embattled Mayor Adrian Fenty, who is trialing his rival, D.C. City Council member Vince Gray. Fenty donned a Redskins' No. 5, Donovan McNabb, jersey (with his name on it, of course, not Donovan's) to get some last minute goodwill on Monday, while politicking at an intersection in the city's northwest quadrant. Never mind. My friend Savvy Broad still plans on putting on her prettiest dress when she marches to the polls today to throw some shade on Fenty supporters as she casts her vote for Gray out of pure spite and hatred.

WTF: "Oh You Fenty Huh?" Pro-Fenty Rap Jam Hits Web (Video)

I saw this on a friend's Facebook page and went ... wait? What? The video, featuring a quartet of rappers doing a version of Drake's hit "Fancy" popped up on YouTube Sept. 9th, just in time for the DC mayoral election. Produced and paid for by THE CONNOISSEURS, with music arranged and produced by Press Play Studios, the video is in support of current DC Mayor Adrian Fenty. This video seems ... well, very different from how Fenty has presented himself. He's not in the video which features just your standard rappers profiling kind of stuff intersected with shots from around the city. It's quite well done and a great looking video. But it almost seems kind of foreign to hear a rap song done in tribute to him featuring school kids and adoring young folks.

A Kinder, Gentler Adrian Fenty?

Photo via UPII think someone knows that people think he's an uppity so-and-so. In his latest Mayoral debate with rival D.C. Council Chairman Vince Gray, D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty admitted it must have been cold there in his shadow ... to never have sunlight on your face.

The Power of the Black Woman Vote and DC's Adrian Fenty

Fool a black woman once, shame on you. And that's it. No fool me twice. She won't hate you; she just won't vote for you again.

-- Washington Post Metro columnist Courtland Milloy

Washington Post's Courtland Milloy wrote on Wednesday that after several high (and low) profile snubbings of black women in Washington, D.C. -- From Maya Angelou and civil rights icon Dr. Dorothy Height -- Mayor Adrian Fenty managed to tick off the one constituent who can make you or break you in a city where the black vote matters.

Living In the Land Of Anybody But "King" Adrian Fenty

This morning, the minute I stepped out of my house a woman was getting out of a van. She had on a giant green and white sticker on her suit lapel. A "FENTY" sticker. And I was coming out of the house where my landlady had a giant ANYONE BUT FENTY sign for DC Council Chairman Vincent Gray in the front yard.

The woman quickly asked me if I was registered to vote and I told her yes. Then she shouted, "We need your vote in September. Vote Fenty!"

No joke.

Considering how I can't talk to anyone I know about Fenty without them either flying into a spew of explitives or explaining to me the depth of every Fenty-based conspiracy in town I'm going to gather he really needs my vote.

But he's not going to get it.

The Real Housewives of Washington, D.C.

The First Lady of the city of Washington, D.C., Michelle Fenty. If you haven't heard already the folks at cable network Bravo have set their eyes on the seat of our government as the place for the next installment of their "Real Housewives" series. I've never watched the durn show, but just as the Atlanta iteration allowed for some diversity to be thrown in the mix, I'm pretty sure there's room for a good mix of womenfolk in the D.C.-area.

While no one should hold their breath and expect to see Michelle O. on the show (I'm sure they'll be episodes devoted to people trying to get a meeting with the woman), I am wondering how "real" is Bravo going to get with this?
