BP Blog: The Thing No One Knows
For Friday's BP Magazine Bipolar Blog post I tackle what happens when the feelings in your head don't match what's going in the world around you. I write: "I was talking to a friend who is also Bipolar this week about dealing with the public when you're feeling extra paranoid. I was telling him how I felt my parents had done me a service by never indulging me in my many, many childhood anxieties and phobias, insisting that I learn proper coping skills -- even though my parents didn't quite understand what my issues were or what a coping skill was. They just knew it was going to be hard for me to go to school and make friends if I was still having meltdowns over believing bugs were crawling all over me."
