WHO IS “THE SNOB?"  She is your very best, better than most since 1977 friend, self-described “nerd girl/hobohemian,” writer and journalist, Danielle C. Belton.

Born and raised St. Louis, Mo. on a healthy diet of news programming, pop culture, black history and “snark,” Belton is best known as the woman behind THE BLACK SNOB. A pop culture-meets-politics blog, THE BLACK SNOB takes a look at irreverent side of life, finding the funny, freaky center of every issue.

Everyday she uses her amazing powers of intellectual snobbery and pragmatism to look at all sides then make like Solomon and rip everything right down the middle.

Little secret: It’s easier to get to the gooey nougat that way.

Recently “The Snob” has appeared regularly on NPR’s News & Note’s Blogger’s Roundtable and well as Sirrus Radio's POTUS with Charles Ellison. She was also the 2008 and 2009 winner for “Best Writing In A Blog” and the 2008 winner “Best Blog Post/Series” by the Black Weblog Awards.

In a previous life, she was an entertainment reporter and newspaper columnist for The Bakersfield Californian.

She was the writer and creator of the popular “Word on the Street” column (back when the residents of Kern County, Calif. knew her as “WOTS”) as well as a pop culture/humor column for the “Eye Street,” Lifestyle section.

She also regularly appeared on television giving a live, morning show entertainment report at KBAK-TV, a CBS affiliate.

The Snob has also been an editorial cartoonist (in Midland, TX for the Reporter-Telegram), a jazz singer/poet (for saxophonist Tony O’Brien’s ensemble in Bakersfield), high school motivational speaker and humorist.

And for nothing but humor, check out her other blog THE SECRET COUNCIL OF AMERICAN NEGROES.

When not updating the blog, working in freelance public relations research or doodling, Belton is busy working on her book, THE NON-BLACK PERSON’S GUIDE TO BLACK PEOPLE, based on her humor blog and other writing projects.

You can reach The Snob via email: blacksnob@gmail.com.
